Mindful + Somatic Pediatric Sleep Consulting
Rooted in connection, attunement, and nervous system care
Build your family’s strong, healthy and happy foundation from sleep up…
What is Sleep Training?
Sleep training is the process used to achieve healthier sleep and sleep patterns.
As you may be noticing yourself, healthy, consistent sleep is not something that just happens.
Every baby is an individual, with their own personality, needs, and expressions, and every family situation is unique. Sometimes sleep comes easily, but sometimes it can be very difficult to establish. If you are struggling with sleep for your little one, please know you are not failing. This is a genuinely difficult thing to accomplish, on top of everything else that is being asked of you right now.
As a certified pediatric sleep consultant who also has years of education and experience working with kids and families in education and mental health services, specializing in emotional literacy and nervous system regulation, I am here to support you, your little one, and your family in finding what actually works for you in the way that feels good for you.
Having consistent healthy sleep is such a wonderful support for creating a healthy foundation for your little one to develop, and teaching your baby developmentally appropriate, independent, secure sleep habits is a gift that will keep giving for the rest of your lives.
As a certified pediatric sleep consultant working with your family, I honor my training and expertise in best practices, developmental research and nervous system regulation, while holding at the forefront that sleep is not just a box to be checked, but a relationship to be developed. My plans are specifically created to meet:
Your little one’s specific temperament and needs
Your family situation and preferences in lifestyle
Your parenting values and level of desired support
Long term regulation support
My style is highly adaptable, supportive and compassionate. I will create a plan based on your needs and in the style that suits you best. Then we try it and adapt as many times as needed to fit the reality of your situation. Sometimes it fits right and works in just a few days, other times we dig a little deeper or move a little slower to adapt to the situation.
Regardless, my role is to ensure you, your little one, and your whole family are receiving the care and support that fits best for them, both for right now and for building a foundation for the healthiest future.
How Do I Know If I Need Sleep Training Support?
If your little one is 4 months or older and:
Struggling to sleep through the night
Struggling with nap length, consistency or schedule
Cries and resists going to bed for a long time
Will only fall asleep if held by a caregiver, nursed or driven
Frequently wakes up at night or during naps
Can’t fall back to sleep without help
Seems overtired or cranky, or wired and hyper during the day
Or, If you are feeling:
physically or emotionally drained from frequent night wakes
dread bedtime or naps because they feel like a battle
Feel your ability to do normal activities is affected by your own sleep deprivation
Worrying your current approach will not be sustainable for the long term
You’re worried your little one is missing important developmental milestones possibly due to poor sleep
Struggling with sleep transitions (for example, moving from 3 to 2 naps)
Craving a more stable and consistent rhythm to support you and your family
I offer a range of styles of support to fit your needs and situation as outlined below.
I love working with all families, but specialize in working with families seeking long-term, whole system health through the additional incorporation of gentle, body-based tools to support parents and babies find calm and sleep more easily.

About Me
My name is Rae Schultz, and I am a Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant specializing in nervous system regulation for long term health and support.
I first learned about sleep consulting when my brother and his wife (pictured to the right) went through the process for their little one and loved it, but also found that they needed more. Beyond typical sleep consulting, that provides routine and developmental stages, there was a need for deeper regulation and support, at a nervous system level.
Quickly, I realized sleep consulting was an ideal way for me to support families and babies from the ground up in creating healthy sleep habits alongside relational and nervous system habits, so they could all move forward in life with strong, connected, resourced foundations.
My background prior to sleep consulting is in mental health and education, with a specialization in nervous system regulation, mindfulness and building secure relationships. I also have a BA in Neuroscience, am working on an MA in Somatic Psychology, and have done countless trainings in development and regulation for building healthy lives.
As a sleep consultant, I am here to support you and your baby to get the sleep and rest you need and deserve, and provide additional regulation support and training, both for now and the future, if that fits your needs.
My philosophy is grounded in the belief that the proper knowledge, tools and support are what you and your baby need to build the foundation for healthy sleep. And I truly believe that healthy sleep and sleep habits+ are the foundation that builds stronger, healthier, and happier babies, parents, families and communities.
I am passionate about helping families create healthy, sustainable and connecting habits from the very beginning, and have found there is no better time and way to do this than from the ground up, with sleep.
I bring a mindful, non-judgmental and compassionate yet structured approach, and I am here to apply my expertise to support and empower you in what feels best for you and your family.
Please see my Client Feedback session to hear from families I have worked with, and feel free to reach out for a free 15 minute consultation to see if sleep training is the right fit for you and your family.
Feedback From Families
My approach to sleep consulting is grounded in three basic principles:
1. Research + Relationship Based
At its base, pediatric sleep consulting is grounded in the most up to date research not only on sleep, but specifically on infant sleep and infant development, as well as research based sleep coaching techniques.
Intuitively, we all know we need sleep. But our sleep needs and the ways we achieve sleep vary by individual and change as we grow, and it can be difficult to know how to meet these changing needs…especially when we are sleep deprived ourselves.
Furthermore, I specialize in research based, nervous-system care to support long term regulation.
With years working in mental health and education, I have seen first-hand how challenges in regulating ourselves can extend to sleep, daily functioning and relationships.
I am passionate about working with families and babies, from the ground up, to support healthy sleep patterns and whole system regulation from the very beginning.
2. Tailored to You
There are a wide variety of sleep training methods to help you, your family and your little one reach your specific sleep goals in the way that feels good for you.
Oftentimes parents come to sleep training, desperate for help with their baby’s (and their own..) sleep, but with one fixed idea about what sleep training is. One fixed idea that maybe doesn’t feel right for them…
I have been trained in a wide variety of sleep training approaches. All of which are grounded in research, all shown to be safe and effective in developing independent, healthy, developmentally appropriate sleep habits. I also have years of experience and education working with people of all ages in mental health and education services.
The reality is, different approaches work for different people and different situations. I use my expertise and training in research and methodology, as well as my years of experience attuning to my client's needs, to create a unique sleep plan that is specially designed to support you. This process should feel good.
3. Mindful, Compassionate, and Trusting.
Whether this is your first baby, or you are growing your family, bringing a new human into the world is a uniquely exciting yet vulnerable time.
If you are a new parent, you may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious and unsure of what to do and how to best care for this wonderful little person who has entered your world. Or perhaps you have been surprised by how different your newest little one is from their older siblings, and finding your previous methods don’t work to support their needs in the same way.
Regardless of your situation, we all have moments of uncertainty, and we all deserve and need support in times of transition.
Having a baby is constant newness and transition, and adding sleep deprivation to the mix can be overwhelming, to say the least.
My approach brings mindful awareness to the preciousness and rawness of this time in your life, endless compassion for the process, and perhaps most importantly, trust in the process.
Our fears, anxiety and doubts are most active when we are learning something new and sleep deprived (read: parenthood). Its ok! Both you and your baby are capable of getting better sleep and it will get better!
